Attestation for documents issued in Bangladesh
Short answer
A Bangladesh-issued document must first be attested by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The UAE Embassy in Dhaka now offers “one service, two attestations”: one MoFAIC application covers both the embassy and final MoFAIC attestation, normally in 2–3 business days. The original is collected and returned by the approved courier.

- Original required?
- Yes
The Dhaka route changed
Older guides split UAE Embassy Dhaka and MoFAIC into two separate applications. The mission’s current page describes a combined digital workflow: the physical original is still collected, but one application produces both UAE attestations and sends a digitally attested result by email.
That does not remove the Bangladesh half. The document must still reach Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an acceptable state before the UAE application begins.
Rules that prevent avoidable rejection
- Use the original for birth, marriage and death certificates.
- Do not submit a laminated document.
- A legal document such as a POA must be signed before the appropriate local notary or legal authority before Bangladesh MoFA.
- A commercial-content POA is commercial.
- MOA and AOA are separate documents.
- Commercial invoices and certificates of origin use eDAS 2.0 rather than this service.
Cost boundaries
MoFAIC publishes AED 150 per personal document and AED 2,000 per commercial document. The Dhaka page does not publish a single Bangladesh-taka total for the entire route, so this page does not create one. Ask for the Bangladesh authority and courier lines separately.
The process, step by step
Complete the Bangladesh issuing-authority step
Use the authority responsible for the document type before the foreign-ministry stage. The UAE mission does not publish one universal first authority for every Bangladesh document.
Obtain Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation
The UAE Embassy Dhaka requires Bangladesh-issued documents to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh first.
Apply on the UAE MoFA website
Sign in, choose the attestation service and select Bangladesh as the country of issue. The Dhaka route combines the UAE mission and MoFAIC stages.
Hand the original to the approved provider
After payment, the provider contacts you and normally schedules pickup within 24 hours. Attach the air waybill and retain the tracking reference.
Receive and verify the result
The digital result arrives by email and the original is returned by courier. Check the reference and issue date at verify.mofa.gov.ae.
