Confirm the DFAT output before applying

DFAT asks applicants to establish whether the recipient requires an apostille or authentication. Canberra’s current page requires DFAT attestation and also mentions individually apostilled documents. Confirm the output for your document with the mission; do not rely on a blanket “Authentication, not Apostille” instruction. An Australian apostille alone does not replace the UAE stages.

Follow the current combined route

Select Australia as the issuing country in the MoFA application. After submission and payment, follow the approved provider’s collection instructions for the physical document. The published service produces both UAE embassy and MoFA attestations, with the original returned by courier. Commercial invoices and certificates of origin use eDAS instead; do not assume this route handles every commercial filing.

Separate the fee components and time windows

DFAT lists AUD 105 for an apostille or authentication and says processing times vary. This is the Australian authority stage only. The UAE application’s checkout determines the included service and charges. There is no verified complete route total here.

Ask whether each courier amount covers collection, return or both and whether a remote address changes it. A delivery estimate after embassy release is not the processing time of the entire application. Keep any Australian-dollar and dirham quotations in their original currencies until comparing them using a dated exchange rate.
